Make up Update

So, since September I have being doing a Level 2 Creative Hair and Media Make-up course at College. I am absolutely loving it, I seem to be doing really well on my assessments so fingers crossed I can keep it up for the rest of the year!

We have covered a variety of different make up looks now, the first few weeks were daytime makeup, which I tend to struggle with as I can't help going over the top and creating a dramatic smokey eye, but I have learnt when is the right time to put down that brush! The most recent look we did was for 'Prom Night', we were given pictures of dresses that we had to design a look for in a set amount of time. This is the look I came up with...

This was the first time I'd ever attempted it and I can see areas that I need to improve on but over all I was pretty happy with it and the girl is very pretty so she really complimented the look!

I hope you like it!

So so so Sorry!

That I have been so invisible for so long!

I'd like to say that I was doing something exciting in the time that I've been away, but really all I've been doing is working hard at college and trying my best to set up my business, which seems to be going pretty OK!

I promise you that I will now be back to being a regular blogger!

Thank you for not un-following me and I hope you're all well :)

London Bound...

Hi Girls!

Such an exciting weekend ahead. I'm not sure how many of you know this but Benefit recently launched a new mascara called 'They're Real'. To celebrate this they are holding a launch night in London specifically for bloggers, for them to try out the product, get some other goodies and write up a good review on it! It's an invite only event so I'm not sure how they go about picking people, but my friend who is Benefits web designer/developer was able to sneak me an invite!

I'm not sure about you but I find that one of the most exciting things about weekends away is buying all the little bits and bobs like toiletries, magazines etc. These are my top 5 must haves for when you're away!

Tresemme Shampoo & Conditioner
Colgate Toothpaste
Johnsons Make-up Wipes
Dove Deodorant

The good thing about it is that ASDA and I'm sure other stores do it too, but they do travel sized toiletries. I always use Johnson's face wipes, I tend to go for the ones in the pink packet but thought I'd give these ones a try!

Even the journey gets me all excited, unless I'm getting a coach, the prospect of a 6 hour coach journey makes me feel physically sick. So I had to shut my eyes while I paid £59.00 return from Liverpool to London.

I can't wait to come back and tell you all about the night, free food, champagne AND make up, pretty sure that's what Heaven is like!

Hope you all have a happy and safe rest of the week and weekend <3

Blog troubles

I'd like to apologise for not leaving comments or feedback on peoples profiles, but for some reason, my blogger won't let me.
It won't let me comment on my own posts or anyone else's and says that I do not have permission to do that from the email account I sign in on.

Please don't think I am ignorant and I really appreciate all your positive feedback and would also like to thank some of you for blog awards.

If anyone knows how I can fix this then feel free to leave a comment below... Its so frustrating!

Benefit Skincare

I have heard many good things about Benefits skin care range and was specifically recommended to try it as I was suffering from really dry skin on my face and nothing seemed to be hydrating it properly.

Thankfully I have a very good friend who works at Benefit and he sent me some things over.

This is their 'Total Moisture Facial Cream' which is a hydra-concentrated facial cream with tri-radiance complex.

Benefit describes it as- Say good-bye to dry skin and hello to "total moisture". This facial cream provides concentrated immediate & long-term hydration for an ultra radiant complexion. Contains exclusive tri-radiance complex to help develop the skin's reserves of water & reinforce skin's moisture barrier for a radiantly refreshed complexion. For normal to dry skin.

The Tri-Radiance appears in a few of their products and means that it does three things:
  1. Develops the skins reserves of water
  2. Captures water on the skins surface
  3. Maintains water on the skins surface

I have been using this at least every other day and the difference in my skin is amazing. Foundation looks alot better and it takes to my face really well. I've also noticed a difference in not breaking out as much as I was. When I first tried this I noticed how it felt more like a primer than a moisturiser, it was quite thick in consistency and sunk into my skin really well and left me feeling as though my face was glowing.

GOSH Instant Fake Tan

Hey girlies!

Wow...

On my quest to try out every fake tan there is I stumbled upon this 'GOSH' instant tan gel. I'm not sure how new it is but I first seen it a couple of weeks ago.

At a retail price of £7.66, it does fall into the average price for fake tan bracket.

I thought I would try the medium shade first as I like to be quite tanned. It comes in a 150ml bottle with a pump that also has the lock device on it when you twist it a certain way, which I always love.

Fragrance
This does deserve a whole paragraph to itself. I have never came across any fake tan that smells how this does. It smells of aftershave. I seriously urge you lot to go into your local superdrug store just to smell it. It will baffle you as it did me, I wasn't sure how I felt about fake tan having an actual nice scent about it, but its not too over whelming, they got it just right.

Three very small dots is all you need, a little bit really does go a long way.

I should have done the whole arm really, but it was my sisters arm and she hates fake tan so wouldn't let me!
She said that she preferred her own natural skin tone, but i disagree. I love the way it just brings out her natural colour a little bit more and gives her arms a healthy looking glow.

The instructions on the bottle advise you to wait half an hour before putting clothes on or doing anything that will make you sweat etc.

When I went out on Saturday I took the very brave step of just using this instant tan, I didn't have any other fake tan on, and I am very pale with freckles everywhere. I even used it on my face, but when using it on my face I tend to rub it afterwards with a dry towel before applying foundation, just to get rid of any excess bits that may make your face look patchy and dirty.

I was very very pleased with the overall colour and the actual application itself didn't seem to take any longer than usual, and I had to do it all over my back on my own and it worked really well.

Hope you find this useful, although wash off fake tans are pretty useless in this weather, but, for last minute nights out, its very handy indeed!

My First Photoshoot

First of all... again, apologies for my absence the past few days. Hope you are all well :)

I'd just like to share with you a few edited pictures of a photoshoot I did a few months ago. The models name is Premaja Singh, she is from Liverpool and is currently trying to raise her profile as a model. My friend is also a photographer and is building up her portfolio too, so the three of us got together one Wednesday evening and just did 5 hours of different makeup looks and a range of different photos. Im still yet to recieve the originals, but as soon as I do, I will be sure to share them with you!

I absoutely loved doing this, especially with friends, it was such a relaxed environment, yet we all worked so hard together.

I cant wait for you to see some of the original copies, the natural beauty ones of Premraja are so beautiful. The photographer was wanting that look that they have in moisturiser adverts with their hair back and completely fresh faced yet you know theyre wearing makeup. The makeup I used to give that fresh faced look was her own foundation, a pinky blusher and mascara with some slight shading in the corners of her eyes.

It was also a new challenge for myself working with a lady of colour, it's something that I know many makeup schools will cover.
Hope you have all had a lovely week and have an even better weekend!

What's in my bag...

I seriously love seeing what people have in their bags, I don't know why, and when i see their makeup bags I'm wondering what's in the too.

My Bag- The story behind this bag is that some guy who I used to date bought me a pair of Armani Jeans, they didnt fit properly, so instead of getting a smaller size I just decided to get this bag from there instead.

It has two compartments on the side which have zips, and two of the front with those magnetic clip things. It looks like its collapsed on one side.

This is what was in it today:

Red Makeup Bag which came free with Christina Agulieras perfume.
A clip in cat ear from halloween, I must have shoved it in here and its just got lost in the corners with loose change.
A large hair grip which came with the GHD straighteners.
Black necklace
Keys
Razor (must have been there from when i've stayed out somewhere)
Glamour magazine
Every human being necessity, Ipod, with working headphones!
A brush glitter stick thing from La Senza.
Fuji Digi Cam.
Sunglasses (not that i need them right now)
Deodrant
A Pink Barbie comb, I have had this comb for soooooo many years but i love it and cant let go.
Britney Spears Fantasy Perfume
Tweezers.
Bottle of Tango
And my purse, which is from miss selfridge.

Let me know if you have or are thinking of doing a 'whats in my bag' <3

My Last Day...

Today, the 18/7/2011 is officially the last day I will be 20. The big 21 is finally here! I never made a list of things to do before I turn 21 so, I'm giving you lot a chance to list some things and I will do them and take picture proof! Just to make the day fun as I'm pretty sure it's going rain!

I hope being 21 isn't as scary as it sounds!

Love Hannah xxxxxxxxx

Gloomy Day

Oh what a glorious July Sunday we have today! Torrential rain, grey skies, gale force winds. I envy every person who is abroad right now,

On days like this I tend to sit in front of the mirror wondering what makeup to do, watch re-runs of My Name is Earl which I sky plus, or, just sit on my little sisters bed with the laptop and the dog.
So, sat on my little sisters bed I am, wondering what I could post about today. Then i seen this picture of makeup I did a few months ago and thought it kind of describes the whole day.

This isn't photoshopped, I used Picasa to change the add light, highlights and shadows. This is sooo simple, you basically just colour in your eyes with black eyeshadow and red eyeshadow, although I think I used red eyeliner.

A Kim Kardashian-esque look

I don't know if it's just me, but as much as I love makeup, I always prefer doing it on other people rather than on myself. Unfortunately for my 13 year old sister she has become my little model. But I have to say, her face takes makeup so beautifully. I don't know if its because of her young skin or what, but when i do the exact same look on myself afterwards, it never photographs the same and I get so jealous!

We did nothing with her hair its naturally very curly, and was tied up so she took her bobble out.

After doing makeup like this its once I look back at the pictures that I see where I went wrong. Kim Kardashian never seems to wear very heavy fake lashes, but tends to opt for thin naturally long lashes as she doesnt need to put too much emphasis on her eyes as they are already very striking. From pictures I could see that she uses alot of concealer under her eyes and her trademark brown and black smokey eye look. For her lips I actually went over them with white eyeliner, followed by pink eyeshadow followed by the Benefit Lip Gloss which I posted yesterday. I absolutely love the colour on her.

Overall, I will be the first to admit that this is not one of the best looks I have done and I do not feel like I achieved the image I had in my head, but, I was still happy with the overall look and decided to share it.

I would have to say that Kim Kardashian is an Idol of mine, I do love everything about her. She does like to switch it up sometimes and goes for a 40's look and still pulls it off beautifully.

Who would you say was your makeup idol?

Fake Tan of the Year 2011!

I am an avid self tanner. I have been using fake tan since I was 13. Over the years I have found fake tans that I find amazing at the time, but then I always seem to find faults with them after a few applications and then I'm back on the hunt again.

Things I hate about certain self tanning products:
  • Some of them just take a ridiculous amount of time to dry, and you feel like most of it is sticking to your sheets
  • One L'oreal fake tan is so sticky when it's applied, I couldn't sit on my leather couch afterwards without having to peel myself off it
  • Others dry very weirdly and they tend to go a bit "bitty" as if you're rubbing the first layer off when applying your second layer
  • Tans that claims to develop within the hour.... but never ever do.
  • Awful smelling fake tan. Could look amazing on, but the stench can sometimes take away the overall look.
In my local shopping centre there is a cosmetic shop that sells really cheap products like nail varnishes, eyelashes, and hair accessories, I'm pretty sure everyone everywhere has one of these type of shops. I needed a new fake tan but had around £10 on me so I decided to go there, I asked the lady who worked there what fake tans are really good, and for her to not be biased just because she worked there, she told me about this new fake tan mist that was instant, but also developed to a darker colour over time. I bought it for £5.99.

I have to say, out of 10, I would give this product a 9.5. It is absolutely excellent. It's actually everything I have ever looked for in a fake tan.
  1. Does go on instantly, and does get darker over night.
  2. Dries completely within 10 minutes.
  3. It does not work like normal instant tans where it is instant application and instant wash off, this one stays on.
  4. It fades over time, instead of going blotchy and patchy.
  5. It is quite watery so a little bit goes a long way.
  6. Doesn't have any form of over powering smell, I don't think there is even any form of smell whatsoever.
  7. Doesn't streak.
The only thing that is wrong about it's advertisement is that its a mist spray. It is misty, but when you apply it you do have to rub it in hense why it didnt get the full 10/10. But that in itself doesn't deter me from the product in any way. I will continue to buy this product unless they realise how under priced it is and start bumping it up!

I don't really know if you can tell colour wise as this is quite a dark picture. But I had applied the Natural Tan about 2 hours before this photo was taken. I have very fair skin with freckles, so although it may not look very brown, it really is alot darker than my natural skin tone. Hope this gives you some sort of idea.

    Benefit Babe!

I bought the Benefit Lemon Aid eye primer a few months ago off ebay for £3.50. I never seem to have came across it at the counter, but because I love the products they sell for the eye area I would give it a go. I thought I had bought the bargain of the century, but when I recieved it I was very unsatisfied to the point where I just do not use this product, and had to buy another eye primer. However, during a recent shopping trip I seen it on the counter, and it was only as I was going to show a friend how bad it was that I noticed it was nothing like the one I had bought. The one I had purchased had a very oily greasy consistency, and just felt like it took ages to dry, unlike the one at the counter which was very soft, no oilyness or greasyness about it, infact, I was tempted to buy it as it was completely ideal for the type of thing I was looking for. My ebay purchase was all in the exact same packaging, everything about it was the same, but even just looking at the two products together, the difference in them was so obvious.

So, a slight warning when it comes to purchasing ridiculousy cheap high end makeup brand items on ebay, they may not be as high quality as what they should be, I'm not sure whether they will be fakes but still.

As weird as it sounds I felt really guilty, guilty that I had wrongly slated a product that someone may have originally thought about purchasing. Infact, I took to my facebook to attack this product advising people not to waste their money on this as it retails at £16.50. But now I do completely take it all back! I would definitely recommend this product as it didn't have any excess moisture and it also has a compact mirror.

The benefit products I own I am very pleased with. I swear by Benefit High Beam, I have been getting it for a number of years and I use it with my everyday makeup as well as of a night time, for evening makeup I tend to use a lot more on my brow bone area just because when it catches the light, it gives of such a beautiful shine that makes your whole face look glowing and your skin looks perfect! It photographs extremeley well.

    L-R:
Benefit High Beam Sample Size (bought from ebay).
Benefit High Beam Regular 13ml sized bottle - I put this on my cheek bones after my foundation and bronzer/powder. For my own preference I do not use it on the apples of my cheeks. When using it on my brow bone I prefer to do it before using my eyebrow pencil/shadow as sometimes it can be smudged.
Ooh La Lift- Instant Under-eye Brightening Boost (how its described on bottle) - As stated it is designed for under the eyes and gives a really understated shimmery glow look that catches the light beautifully. It is very transparent and doesnt look like you are wearing anything, but you can still see a difference with regards to before and after use.
Thrrrob Blusher- It tells you to brush across your cheekbones, forehead and chin to get the "turned on flush you've been looking for". It is a very very pale pink which I think works perfectly on all skin tones, you get a really pretty shimmery effect, as with most benefit products.
High Brow- This is another product I swear by and again, I use it in my everyday makeup routine but use it in different ways when it comes to evening and daytime looks. I am wearing it on my leopard print makeup look just underneath the eyebrow area, it creates that really bright brow bone effect that works amazing with a smokey eye look, HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!
Eye Bright- Again, highly recommendable! I use it in the very corners of my eyes by your tear ducts, and it gives an under stated look where it doesn't really look like you have anything there, but you can tell the difference between when you're wearing it and when you're not. Sometimes I take it from the corners and sweep it just a little bit underneath my lash line especially if i have used eyeline on half my lash line for a night time look.

I thought I would do a seperate section for the lip gloss as I have ALOT to say about it!

Benefit lip glosses- Since using their lip glosses I have never used anything else, I cannot find fault with anything. I love the short brush applicator, I love the mixture of the blue and green shimmers that just make it POP, and I absolutely love the lip gloss bottle itself. A few of you may remember, I said how disappointed I was with the Urban Decay lip gloss, as it had a really striking lid yet, was in a squeezy tube bottle and I felt like it somehow cheapened it. It seems Benefit have take every aspect on board and have created a product that looks and is, very stylish!

    MAC Technique Classes

At MAC they offer technique classes in makeup, helping you to perfect what you may already know and maybe show you an easier and better way of doing your makeup.

The classes cost £50 and are on for 2 and a half hours. The one I was on today was from 2-4.30pm and they had a morning one too. The £50 includes the cost of the class, and also, after it has finished you get that £50 to spend in store.

Before the class started we were matched with the right foundation mine was NW15 that they gave us in a tiny little tester bottle.

We went into a seperate room with round tables set out with a load of MAC products in the middle and each person had their own vanity tray with mirror, brushes, cotton buds and other makeup tools in front of them.

They started off with a natural makeup look, applying the foundation with a foundation brush. Now, I dont know if its just my skin but I really don't like MAC foundations, it doesnt feel like I'm getting any coverage and I find them too yellowy/green, and no matter what moisturiser I use, the makeup just sinks into my pores and looks really odd.

If I was to be honest I would say that I wouldn't attend this class or any others like it I don't feel as though they really helped much at all, especially when it came to lipsticks as they didnt really direct people about which colour lipsticks to go for. They also did a dramatic lip colour, followed by a nude, which didn't work as most peoples lips were stained from the lip liner and lipstick.

We completed the day by doing a smoky eye look using browns, and I was not impressed with it at all, they encouraged me to use bright pink lipstick as I said im not really a lipstick wearer, god knows why they thought it would be a good idea mixing bright pink lipstick with brown smokey eyes on my very pale skin!

Thats why I won't even post the finished look as it's a complete waste of time.

    BUT...

I did spend my £50 plus and extra £12.50...
    MAC Blusher - Pink Swoon
    Gel Fluidline Eyeliner- Blacktrack
    MAC Brushes- 217 & 266

We used the fluidline with the 266 brush and it made such a difference, definitely cant wait to have a more defined and strong look to my eyeliner.

If you are thinking about being involved with these classes then go to your local MAC store and just ask about their technique classes and they will take your name and number, they also have different types of classes, I heard they were doing a bridal one at the beginning of september :)

    Makeup Haul!

Today I met up with my lovely sister who is my dads other daughter. We had tea at Pizza Hut (which always seem to have soggy pizza) followed by the most amazing dessert in the world, 'Cookie Dough Dessert'. I needed some new foundation, and as I never seem happy with MAC foundation or anything I buy in Boots or Superdrug. I decided to invest in a more expensive foundation that would last me a while and I would be happy with the results. I had a budget in mind of around £25, but didnt want a MAC foundation...... However.... due to my uncontrollable addiction I ended up buying 3 different foundations:

Rimmel- Renew & Lift (100 Ivory)
    Estee Lauder-'Double Wear' (1N1 ECRU 16)
Clinique- Blended Face Powder and Brush (20 Invisible Blend)
    Clinique- 'Supermoisture' Foundation (02 Linen)

This is on my sisters hand who is alot more tanned than me as I am very fair, as you can see I tend to go for a more pink based foundation with the slightest hint of yellow, I've found that if I go too yellow it almost makes me look sick.

I also decided to try out a clinique loose face powder for the first time just to see what results it gives to my skin.

The problems I find I have with foundations is that my skin tends to look almost scaly on my forehead and around my mouth as the day goes on, and the only thing that stops it is wearing primer underneath. Obviously that is one of the main purposes of Primer, but I always thought it would be nice to find a foundation that did a primers job aswell as being used for coverage.

As I only bought them today I obviously can't give you a review just yet, but I did some swatches on my sisters hand and the texture and consistency of the double wear foundation felt incredible, even with just a tiny bit on my finger.

    Excited Happy Post!

So today marked the beginning basically of the rest of my life.
I enrolled myself at a highly recommended college to begin studying Media Makeup Level 2, which begins in September.
It's a one year course and the woman said that the level of makeup qualification would mean I could work in salons and counters and things, or if I wanted to do the level 3 afterwrds then that would be more Film and Tv work, which is where I would like to be, especially as I'm sure there is more money involved.
To celebrate I'm going to post a makeup look which I am very apprehensive about as it is very weird, and I cant quite work out if I like it or not, but while I'm on a high I will pluck up the courage to post it.

My Version of the Katy Perry ET look.
Katy Perry in her ET video.
I did cheat ever so slightly with this look by using 'Paint' for the eyes. It also looks like I have really bad skin on my forehead but it was a pattern which was not able to be picked up very well by any cameras I had.

    Hope you enjoy it =/

    Black Swan

This is the second, maybe third most time consuming makeup look I have ever done. I will post the first one in a couple of days :)

After seeing Black Swan I was just swamped with ideas of things to do and could not wait to try them out! If you have never seen Black Swan then you MUST go and see it. Such an amazing film with a beautiful story.

None of this has been edited, I was sat in a dark room with the light off my blackberry and used my Ipod to take this picture, hense the less than perfect quality.

Im trying to keep this post as short as possible but I have since been asked to do a tutorial on this as it was the first time I ever attempted it and I havent tried it again since. I have never done a tutorial before, I did try once but I just felt so embarassed and self conscious,i applaud anyone who has the guts to do one! If you would like me to do a tutorial then just leave a comment below :)

    Thanks lovelies!

    Products Used-

Mac Liquid Last Eyeliner (Big mistake when it came to being washed off!)
Mac Foundation (not sure on the shade but it was extremely light)
A cheap green makeup pallet from Superdrug.
    And a maybelline lipstick.

Sorry I couldnt be more specific but I did this a while ago now :)

    Mickey Mouse Look

Continuing on with my Lady Gaga looks this is another look I did from her Video from her hit song 'Paparazzi'. I'd describe it as a sinister take on the Disney icon, Mickey Mouse. I don't know if there are actual reasons and hidden meanings as to why she chose this particular look for the scene where she killed her boyfriend by poisoning his drink, but in my opinion i'd say that the character she portrays in the different versions of the video I've seen are that she's in a pretty volatile relationship, very violent, aggressive and controlling, all on the males side. We see him pushing her off a balcony whilst paparazzi are watching and she is killed. Maybe he didn't like being with a woman of such power? As she plays a famous character known as 'Lady Gaga' in the video. So my theory is that her "wife beaten" character has a dark side waiting to come out, and she disguises herself as a cartoon character who's known for being a cute, funny innocent childs cartoon character that no-one would ever associate with murder... what do you think? Would LOVE to hear your thoughts!

I'm sure I could have worded this better so I really do apologise for the lengthy analysis!

I hope you enjoy this look, I have since recreated it on a model for a photoshoot so will be posting them photos as soon as I receive them from the photographer.

No editing has been done on this and I used my blackberry with the flash on to take the picture.

I didn't actually use black lipstick for this, instead I used black eyeshadow applied with a eyeshadow brush, to create a soft powder look effect with a slight hint of white eyeshadow on the middle of my bottom lip to give it a slight highlight.

If you are going to try this look yourself its important to conceal your lips first to get the best effect!
Hope you enjoy and have fun doing it yourself or on others!

For everyone that has left me feedback and comments so far I really do appreciate it and I always reply and follow every single person that leaves links and comments :) Thankyou soooo much for all the response so far!

    Gaga for Gaga!

Alot can obviously be said about how Lady Gaga has changed the course of fashion and broken boundaries we didnt even know existed. With each new music video she has given makeup lovers like myself a new challenge.

Here is the latest look I would like to share with you. I did this a couple of months back but again it was one of the more popular looks I did so I thought I'd share it with you now.

Hopefully you can guess which Lady Gaga video this look is from...

As always, my camera quality isnt the best as I use my iPod to take most of these pictures, but I do hope you enjoy them and that it maybe inspires you to create the same look or a similar one from a different music video, if you do make sure you leave me a comment so I can check it out!

    Loving Leopard!

A while ago I did a quick leopard print pattern on part of my face and uploaded a picture to my facebook account. People seemed to really like it although it was a really amature looking picture with my phone and a mirror. Today I decided to finally expand on the look and make it into as much of a production as possible, I'm not sure how long it took me but doing the pattern was pretty time consuming as I do everything myself.

A quick list of what I used:
Collection 2000 liquid eyeliner for the pattern as it washes off easily.
A chilli pepper brown eyeshadow which I have had for yearsss, it has an orangey tint to it which I really like but don't really wear on a day to day basis.
I used the Urban decay eye primer in gold around my eyes so that in person it would have a shimmer to it.
For the eyes I used the Barry M black dust as it gives off that jet black look I was going for, that was applied with my short shader MAC brush, i can't remember the number.
A really cheap white thick eyeliner pencil.
A ruby and millie eyeshadow stick, I used the brown to blend in the black on my eyelid and underneath my eye.
A MAC eyeliner to fill in any gaps, it never seems to work on my waterline though for some reason!
And for the brows i used a brown eye pencil as well as a brown eyeshadow and underneath for the brow bone i used a benefit brow pencil.

Apologies for the really weird angle but I was trying to show how much of it there actually was! I'm a bit disappointed with the area around my jaw line but I couldnt reeally see!

    Hope you like it!

    Superdrug takes on Boots!

When you next go into your local Superdrug you may be offered something called a "beauty card". I went in there today to buy some new concealer and the Barry M nail effects in black. When the lady at the counter asked if I was interested I asked if it was the same as a Boots advantage card and she said it was similar but Superdrugs is alot better.
I read over the leaflet when I got home to see what they were going to offer me as a customer and I was quite amazed.
Boots Advantage Card offers you 4 points for every £1 you spend, and 100 points on your card is equvalent to £1. So you would have to spend £25 to earn £1 back.
Superdrug Beauty Card offers you 1 point for every £1 you spend, meaning you would have to spend £100 to earn back your £1.

Now I'm no mathematician but it is quite clear to me which one I would rather go for.

The only reason in which I can see Superdrug says their Beauty Card is better is because when you spend your points, which have to be spent in multiples of 100, you also earn them back. So if you spend 200 points on your card which is £2, then you would get 2 points back... I'll try and put this as simple as possible as I have struggled with this myself. To gain 200 points you would have to spend £200 in the shop first, then if you used them 200 points to buy something, you would gain 2p of that £200 back. The lady behind the counter initially told me that it was better because it had a mirror on it.

    Its soooooo confusing I know.
The lady initially told me it was better because it had a mirror on it... I think she needs to work on her sales pitch!

Whoever came up with this idea thinking that it was going to rival the boots advantage card was seriously mistaken. Maybe boots doesnt offer a system to gain your points back, but I would much rather earn more points immediately as it wouldn't take as long to be able to use the points in store.

Obviously there is no reason to not use the card as it doesnt cost you anything to use it, but my advice would be if you had both a Boots and Superdrug card then go and buy your products from Boots, alot more value for your money!!!

Start earning your points now! (because if you dont start straight away then you will still be trying to build them up well into your elderly years!)
