Make up Update

So, since September I have being doing a Level 2 Creative Hair and Media Make-up course at College. I am absolutely loving it, I seem to be doing really well on my assessments so fingers crossed I can keep it up for the rest of the year!

We have covered a variety of different make up looks now, the first few weeks were daytime makeup, which I tend to struggle with as I can't help going over the top and creating a dramatic smokey eye, but I have learnt when is the right time to put down that brush! The most recent look we did was for 'Prom Night', we were given pictures of dresses that we had to design a look for in a set amount of time. This is the look I came up with...

This was the first time I'd ever attempted it and I can see areas that I need to improve on but over all I was pretty happy with it and the girl is very pretty so she really complimented the look!

I hope you like it!

So so so Sorry!

That I have been so invisible for so long!

I'd like to say that I was doing something exciting in the time that I've been away, but really all I've been doing is working hard at college and trying my best to set up my business, which seems to be going pretty OK!

I promise you that I will now be back to being a regular blogger!

Thank you for not un-following me and I hope you're all well :)

London Bound...

Hi Girls!

Such an exciting weekend ahead. I'm not sure how many of you know this but Benefit recently launched a new mascara called 'They're Real'. To celebrate this they are holding a launch night in London specifically for bloggers, for them to try out the product, get some other goodies and write up a good review on it! It's an invite only event so I'm not sure how they go about picking people, but my friend who is Benefits web designer/developer was able to sneak me an invite!

I'm not sure about you but I find that one of the most exciting things about weekends away is buying all the little bits and bobs like toiletries, magazines etc. These are my top 5 must haves for when you're away!

Tresemme Shampoo & Conditioner
Colgate Toothpaste
Johnsons Make-up Wipes
Dove Deodorant

The good thing about it is that ASDA and I'm sure other stores do it too, but they do travel sized toiletries. I always use Johnson's face wipes, I tend to go for the ones in the pink packet but thought I'd give these ones a try!

Even the journey gets me all excited, unless I'm getting a coach, the prospect of a 6 hour coach journey makes me feel physically sick. So I had to shut my eyes while I paid £59.00 return from Liverpool to London.

I can't wait to come back and tell you all about the night, free food, champagne AND make up, pretty sure that's what Heaven is like!

Hope you all have a happy and safe rest of the week and weekend <3

Blog troubles

I'd like to apologise for not leaving comments or feedback on peoples profiles, but for some reason, my blogger won't let me.
It won't let me comment on my own posts or anyone else's and says that I do not have permission to do that from the email account I sign in on.

Please don't think I am ignorant and I really appreciate all your positive feedback and would also like to thank some of you for blog awards.

If anyone knows how I can fix this then feel free to leave a comment below... Its so frustrating!

Benefit Skincare

I have heard many good things about Benefits skin care range and was specifically recommended to try it as I was suffering from really dry skin on my face and nothing seemed to be hydrating it properly.

Thankfully I have a very good friend who works at Benefit and he sent me some things over.

This is their 'Total Moisture Facial Cream' which is a hydra-concentrated facial cream with tri-radiance complex.

Benefit describes it as- Say good-bye to dry skin and hello to "total moisture". This facial cream provides concentrated immediate & long-term hydration for an ultra radiant complexion. Contains exclusive tri-radiance complex to help develop the skin's reserves of water & reinforce skin's moisture barrier for a radiantly refreshed complexion. For normal to dry skin.

The Tri-Radiance appears in a few of their products and means that it does three things:
  1. Develops the skins reserves of water
  2. Captures water on the skins surface
  3. Maintains water on the skins surface

I have been using this at least every other day and the difference in my skin is amazing. Foundation looks alot better and it takes to my face really well. I've also noticed a difference in not breaking out as much as I was. When I first tried this I noticed how it felt more like a primer than a moisturiser, it was quite thick in consistency and sunk into my skin really well and left me feeling as though my face was glowing.

GOSH Instant Fake Tan

Hey girlies!

Wow...

On my quest to try out every fake tan there is I stumbled upon this 'GOSH' instant tan gel. I'm not sure how new it is but I first seen it a couple of weeks ago.

At a retail price of £7.66, it does fall into the average price for fake tan bracket.

I thought I would try the medium shade first as I like to be quite tanned. It comes in a 150ml bottle with a pump that also has the lock device on it when you twist it a certain way, which I always love.

Fragrance
This does deserve a whole paragraph to itself. I have never came across any fake tan that smells how this does. It smells of aftershave. I seriously urge you lot to go into your local superdrug store just to smell it. It will baffle you as it did me, I wasn't sure how I felt about fake tan having an actual nice scent about it, but its not too over whelming, they got it just right.

Three very small dots is all you need, a little bit really does go a long way.

I should have done the whole arm really, but it was my sisters arm and she hates fake tan so wouldn't let me!
She said that she preferred her own natural skin tone, but i disagree. I love the way it just brings out her natural colour a little bit more and gives her arms a healthy looking glow.

The instructions on the bottle advise you to wait half an hour before putting clothes on or doing anything that will make you sweat etc.

When I went out on Saturday I took the very brave step of just using this instant tan, I didn't have any other fake tan on, and I am very pale with freckles everywhere. I even used it on my face, but when using it on my face I tend to rub it afterwards with a dry towel before applying foundation, just to get rid of any excess bits that may make your face look patchy and dirty.

I was very very pleased with the overall colour and the actual application itself didn't seem to take any longer than usual, and I had to do it all over my back on my own and it worked really well.

Hope you find this useful, although wash off fake tans are pretty useless in this weather, but, for last minute nights out, its very handy indeed!

My First Photoshoot

First of all... again, apologies for my absence the past few days. Hope you are all well :)

I'd just like to share with you a few edited pictures of a photoshoot I did a few months ago. The models name is Premaja Singh, she is from Liverpool and is currently trying to raise her profile as a model. My friend is also a photographer and is building up her portfolio too, so the three of us got together one Wednesday evening and just did 5 hours of different makeup looks and a range of different photos. Im still yet to recieve the originals, but as soon as I do, I will be sure to share them with you!

I absoutely loved doing this, especially with friends, it was such a relaxed environment, yet we all worked so hard together.

I cant wait for you to see some of the original copies, the natural beauty ones of Premraja are so beautiful. The photographer was wanting that look that they have in moisturiser adverts with their hair back and completely fresh faced yet you know theyre wearing makeup. The makeup I used to give that fresh faced look was her own foundation, a pinky blusher and mascara with some slight shading in the corners of her eyes.

It was also a new challenge for myself working with a lady of colour, it's something that I know many makeup schools will cover.
Hope you have all had a lovely week and have an even better weekend!
